Absolute Beginners Class (7.15 - 8.15pm):
Do you have two left feet? Have you never danced before? Are you nervous about taking that first step? Then this is the class for you. This ballroom and Latin American dance class is aimed at dancers who have either never danced before or very little. We will go at the pace of the class, so there is no need to worry if you do not quite 'get the dance'. Courses will run for a period of approximately 6 weeks, concentrating on one dance at a time before moving onto the next. In this class, we will aim to learn a basic routine for a particular dance. Concentrating on the very basics will enable dancers to feel confident enough to go out dancing socially, at a wedding, or on a cruise ship. Basic technique will be covered, i.e., footwork (heels and toes), hold, alignments, and timing. Once each dance has been completed at this level with confidence, we are able to offer further instruction in the Beginners Plus Class on a Monday evening or via a one-on-one lesson if preferred.
Revision Practise Session (8.15 - 8.30pm):
These sessions are available to everyone attending during the evening. We encourage attendance at these sessions to help dancers to feel confident dancing around the floor with other dancers. This is the only way you will learn floorcraft, by getting up and joining in!
Beginners Plus Class (8.30 - 9.30pm):
Our Beginners Plus Class is for dancers who are confident with the basic figures and terminology of all 10 dances within the Ballroom and Latin American genre or who have completed at least 18 months in our Absolute Beginners Class. If you would like to join this class, please contact us to discuss your individual abilities and requirements. Dancers who already attend our classes will be asked to attend when we feel they are of the required standard. We will use basic figures to progress and improve all dances. All technique will be taught, including sway and CBM (Contra Body Movement). Once we feel you are ready we will offer you further developement by inviting you along to our Improvers Class on a Tuesday Evening at Kesgrave High School.
