Do you have two left feet? Have you never danced before? Are you nervous about taking that first step? Then this is the class for you. This ballroom and latin american dance class is aimed at dancers who have either never danced before or very little. We will go at the pace of the class, so no need to worry if you do not quite ‘get the dance’. Classes will run for a period of approximately 8 weeks concentrating on one dance at a time before moving onto the next dance. Please try to stay for the practise sessions, when available, to practise your steps and to get to know your fellow dancers. In this class we will aim to learn a basic routine in the Waltz, Quickstep, Tango, Social Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha and Jive. Concentrating on the very basics to enable dancers to feel confident to go out dancing socially, at a wedding or on a cruise ship. Basic technique will be covered i.e. Footwork (heels and toes), hold, alignments and timing. Once each dance has been completed at this level with confidence we are able to offer further instruction in the Improvers Class or via a one to one lesson if required.
This class is for dancers who have completed our Beginners Class or have danced a little before. We will be concentrating on improving and adding to all dances taught at beginners level. A good basic knowledge of the Waltz, Tango, Social Foxtrot, Quickstep, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha and Jive are necessary for this class as we will be building upon these basics as well as introducing the Samba and Ballroom Foxtrot. Technique such as footwork, timing and alignments will be revised and learnt. If you attend this class please try to come along for the social/practise time when available. We do not have any set timetable for this class we work on whatever is needed at the time. We usually work on 2/3 dances during the course of the lesson.
This dance class is for dancers who are confident with the terminology of each dance. If you would like to join this class please contact us to discuss your individual ability and requirements. Dancers who already attend our classes will be asked to attend when we feel they are of the required standard. We will use standard figures and variations so a good knowledge is required. Paso Doble and the Viennese Waltz will be introduced. Various technique will be revised. Although we will use a basic routine we encourage dancers to use the various figures and variations as they wish. After all we do not wish to create a sequence class we would like our dancers to be as individual as possible!
